A lovely and unusual silver scent bottle designed in the shape of a heart. This has a flip lid which opens to reveal a glass stopper. The bottle is decorated in an embossed pattern which is really striking and suits the shape of the bottle. A great quality piece of silver by William Comyns, a Silversmith renowned for his quality workmanship and decorative pieces. This is no exception it is a beautiful item and a lovely shape and size. It is hallmarked on the top and bottom section, again this shows the quality of the piece. A very collectable silver scent bottle.
Assay Office: London
Maker: William Comyns
Date: 1900
Condition -
This silver scent bottle is in very good condition there are no dents or dings to the silver. The glass stopper is original but has one very small chip. The decoration is still crisp and sharp with no rubbing to the detail. The hallmarks are clear with some very minor rubbing. There are some marks around the neck and where the joins are around the neck and shoulders of the bottle - please see close up pictures. These marks appear to be where the silver has been rolled over to create a join between the top and the bottom pieces and the two pieces have been joined together when the scent bottle was made. There is a slight misallignment between the two pieces but this is only visible from one side - again please see pictures. This doesn't overly detract from the overall appeal of this lovely scent bottle. Overall a lovely item in very good condition for its age.
