An unusual piece of Edwardian Silver this is a tea infuser. It has a lovely fretwork handle and an egg shaped 3 dimensional end that opens on a hinge with a hook clasp. The egg shaped end opens so that tea leaves could be placed inside and infused into the water by using the infuser like a spoon. Hallmarked on the back of the handle with partial hallmarks to the pierced section this is a lovely piece of highly collectable silver from the Edwardian period.
Assay Office: Birmingham
Maker: C E Williams
Date: 1901
Condition -
Used excellent - with no damage just some minor surface marks and some very light surface scratches commensurate with age and light use. There is some light tarnishing where the handle and the bowl join - see pictures for more details. Hallmarks and partial marks are good. The clasp is tight as it should be to avoid opening whilst in the water. The ring also has partial hallmarks. The hinge is good and the top and bottom sections open and close well and snugly.
