An unusual combination vesta and sovereign holder. The sovereign holder is designed to hold a full sovereign and a half sovereign. This case has an all over engraved decoration with a central unengraved cartouche on the sovereign holder section. The decoration is really crisp and still sharp with very little wear. The hallmarks are clear. A lovely and unusual collectable item of Edwardian silver.
Assay Office: Birmingham
Maker: Joseph Gloster
Date: 1906
Condition-
Very good with a couple of miniscule dents / marks to the sides. There is one very small dent in the cartouche. There is very little wear to the decoration, the only area showing some wear is the cartouche which has a few very minor scratches which are commensurate with age and use. The vesta closes snugly. Both hinges are good with no repairs, The spring loaded sovereign holder works well and closes well. The striker is good. Hallmarks are clear on the vesta section, inside the lid of the sovereign holder, and on the holders themselves. Overall a lovely quality collectable item of silver showing minimal signs of age and use related wear.
