A horseshoe desk clip with a shaped base. The cast horse is set on a hinge that closes down on any paper to keep it in place on the desk. It is not sprung and is designed to stay in place on a desk. A novel piece of silver to adorn your desk and a lovely item for anyone involved with Horses or Equestrian activities. A lovely collectable silver item.
Assay Office: Birmingham
Maker: Stuart Clifford
Date: 1897
Condition -
Excellent without any damage. Very minor surface marks commensurate with age and light use. Hallmarks on the base are good, the horseshoe is also marked and is silver although the marks appear to be different dates to the base suggesting the base and horseshoe may not have begun life together in this form. However, the base is the same shape and works well with the horseshoe. This is not a recent repair / make up. Our thoughts are that the base got damaged and a replacement was made as a high quality replacement for the original base.
