A lovely Victorian solid silver vinaigrette decorated with all Ivy leaf decoration and a ribbon cartouche to the top. The back is unusually decorated with an engraved foliate decoration and a diagonal strip of Greek Key decoration. Ivy leaves symbolise fertility and longevity and silver items decorated with Ivy leaves were commonly given as gifts to a special person or on a significant occasion. This silver vinaigrette was produced by an eminent Victorian silversmith and is a beautiful silver item with great detail. A fantastic piece of collectable Victorian silver.
