An unusual Victorian silver vinaigrette of shaped narrow rectangular form with foliate scroll engraving to the top, base and sides. On the top this surrounds a shaped engraved cartouche. The cartouche is engraved with a period monogram. Inside is a highly decorated grille, and a gilded interior. It has a loop and ring at one end which is original. A lovely collectable silver vinaigrette. Assay Office: Birmingham Maker: David Pettifer Date: 1851
Condition - This vinaigrette is in very good condition with no dents, dinks, repairs etc. It is fully hallmarked and the hallmarks are clear. The gilding is in good condition but the inside would perhaps benefit from a clean to remove some polish residue. The hinges are all free from damage and work well although the main hinge is quite stiff. There is a very slight gap when the vinaigrette is fully closed.
