A lovely early George III pocket silver Vinaigrette. This is slightly curved in shape with plain sides and engraved pattern to lid and base. As this is a pocket Vinaigrette it is larger in size than many other Vinaigrettes. The lid is decorated with an engraved pattern designed to look like scales. This is interjected with two plain diagonal stripes and a rectangular central cartouche which is unengraved. The back is a little plainer as is common on these items, particularly of this age, and has a central engraving which is a continuation of the scales on the top. A lovely early silver Vinaigrette by an eminent Silversmith of the time.
Assay Office: Birmingham
Maker: Samuel Pemberton
Date: 1787
Condition -
Overall, this silver Vinaigrette is in very good condition. The decoration is still crisp without any rubbing. There is one very minor dent to the lid. There are some heavier marks to the base which are commensurate with age and light use. None of the above detracts from this piece and it is a lovely, highly collectable George III Vinaigrette. Minor marks commensurate with age and light use. Hallmarks are good.
